Shepherd's Pie

Does this bring back good memories . . . or bad?
For my husband, it's not so good.
(I've only made it twice since I've been married--he hates it that much.)
Last week, I decided we needed an Irish meal for St. Patty's Day
and I settled on Shepherd's Pie (to my hubby's chagrin).
But I made it my way: I baked a chuck roast. (No Hamburger!)
Then I chunked it and simmered it for several hours in our favorite BBQ sauce.
For the last half hour, I added oodles of smashed potatoes
and melted colby jack cheese on top.
NO VEGGIE SURPRISES:
NO CHUNKS OF ONIONS, TOMATOES, GREEN BEANS, ETC.
No Carrots, No Peas.
Lo and behold, my husband loved it.
And ALL of the kids ate it, too . . . even my meat hater.
Score one for mom!
Oh and the leprechauns visited and left behind a pot of gold (candy).
They magically turned the pancakes green.
A jar of applesauce was mysteriously changed from yellow to green.
Those tricky little guys!

Disturbing Wildlife Photo

This photo below captures a disturbing trend
that is beginning to affect U.S. wildlife.
Animals that were formerly self-sufficient
are now showing signs of joining the Democratic Party.
They have apparently learned to just sit and wait for the government
to step in and provide for their care and sustenance.
This is a Democrat black bear in Montana nicknamed Bearack Obearma.

Need a LAUGH?

The two stuck ladies (at the end) crack me up.
Hope this brightens your day;D

THuMPer'S RuLE

Okay, so now I've got guilt
since I complained about my kids yesterday.
Complained about them to all of you. OOPS!
I really do love them.
Honestly, I do.
I should have done what I tell my kids to do.
And I need to remember ThUMpeR's RuLE:
If you can't say anything nice,
don't say anything at all!
I should have kept my mouth zipped
(or typing fingers silent) yesterday.
And I really do need to implement
"Come What May and Love It." (E. Wirthlin)
I'll do better today. I promise.

GoINg CoMPLeteLY BaTty

We love them more than life itself,
will do anything for them, pray for them,
and go to bed exhausted each night from our efforts on their behalf.

And the Catch-22 is that we love them,
BUT can't stand them half the time.
Well, not half of the time. Occasionally.
Some days more than others.
But today has been OnE of THoSe MoRNinGs.

Here's my list of complaints.
The reasons for my temporary iNsANiTy.
(And we haven't had lunch yet.)
1. Spitting
2. Kicking
3. Pushing
4. Tattletelling
5. Crying
6. Fighting
7. Throwing Food
8. Whining
9. Hitting
10. Incessant (Loud and High) Singing
11. Disobedience
12. Complaints about Breakfast (Spit Out Food)
13. Blueberries in the Carpet
14. Dumped Diapers
15. Crayon on the Walls and Floor
16. More Tattletelling
17. Torn Books

I know that for some of you this sounds like one of the "good old days"
and you're going to tell me how much you miss "those days"
and to enjoy them while they last.
Or how you wish you could go back and just enjoy the moment.
I'm not sure I believe you.
You didn't feel that way while you were living through it. Admit it.

Okay, I'll stop complaining and get back to work.
Three kids are waiting for lunch and two baskets of laundry want to be folded.
I guess Elder Wirthlin's last talk "Come What May and Love It"
seems an appropriate pep talk for this floundering mom.

I'm smiling.
It's a little forced, but I'm trying.
