Sunday Best

Sunday mornings are fun, aren't they?
Especially when you're trying to get six kids ready for church.
How is it that each boy can have six pair of black socks,
but not find ONE on Sunday morning?
Or how do the girls manage to lose their hair ribbons
somewhere between the car and the chapel?
He likes to do the GOPHER look.
Don't ask me why.
This is a rare moment.
The two of them are NOT fighting.
Miracle of miracles.
And they are both smiling.
And standing still. WOW.

Can anyone get a nine-month-old to sit still for a photo?
Big brother loves to hold his baby sister.
This little girl loves to be in pictures.

Well, we made it to church on time.
Another triumph.
And we'll do it all over again next Sunday.
So much to look forward to.
And they say I'll miss this when they're all grown up.
Imagine that . . . because I can't.
BUT I LOVE THEM!

White Christmas Tradition

Planning Thanksgiving dinner for the masses and its ensuing activites
has turned my thoughts to some of my memories
of Thanksgiving day.
One tradition that I keep up, that my Mom and I started, is watching
the first Christmas movie of the season
Thanksgiving night, after the family dinner, after the clean-up,
after the football games, after the relatives have gone.
One of my favorites, that I show to my kids every year,
is "White Christmas."

I've got fun memories of my sisters and I trying
to sing the "Snow" song in harmony--
they're much better singers than I am.
And "Sisters" is sung throughout the year--there were five in our family.
I put my favorite clips on the side for fun. ENJOY!

So, what are your fun Thanksgiving traditions? Share.

LOL Talent Show

Here's the latest and the greatest idea
for your next ward talent show.
Can you just see your hubby up there, performing?
I can imagine mine performing and I'm snickering.
Hey! Better him than me.

Down Memory Lane with CHICKEN FAT

When I was just a little kid, I remember my Dad bringing home a record to play for Family Home Evening, called "Chicken Fat." In fact, we'd beg him to bring it home again and again. We thought it was so cool. We loved when he would bring this home and we would do the actions suggested by the song, ie, sit-ups, push-ups, arm circles, marching, etc. This was his idea of fun games when he was in charge of activity for FHE. Can you just imagine the whole family (Dad included) trying to keep up with song? Imagine tons of kids laughing and having a blast doing it. Well, I just added that song to my playlist. Listen to it and as you do, imagine mini-me and siblings doing it. It brings a chuckle to your lips, doesn't it? Try not to laugh too hard. I don't want you to hurt yourself.

Well, it's come full circle now. I found the song this weekend and added it to my playlist. My kids have had a blast listening to it. So has my husband, come to think of it. (I think he just likes to laugh at the thought of me doing it and thinking it was fun to exercise. So different from nowadays.) ANYWAY, last night, for FHE fun song, McKay wanted to do the CHICKEN FAT song. So, yes, we did it. Just imagine, little OLD me, down on the floor doing push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks and running around to this song with five little kidlets joining in.
Okay! You can stop laughing now! STOP. I mean it.
STOP LAUGHING AT ME.
Hope you enjoy the music.
